AFL finals 2022 tickets: Anger among fans as Ticketek website crashes

AFL fans have vented their frustration after the website used to purchase tickets crashed on Monday.

“@Ticketek — AU what’s wrong with the automatic queue for AFL tickets? Waited two hours today then I cancelled and tried again,” Howard wrote on Twitter on Monday.

With tickets to two AFL preliminary finals matches on Friday night and Saturday afternoon respectively, demand among fans was running hot.

But many members of the four AFL clubs remaining this season, Brisbane, Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood, complained that they waited hours online before the site crashed.

“Hey @Ticketek you have one job and that’s to sell tickets. My job is not to buy tickets and I have another job so I can’t spend all day waiting for you to figure out how to sell tickets to an event,” Heath Franklin wrote on Twitter.

Part of the problem has been attributed to Ticketek releasing tickets to the weekend’s two finals matches and the performance of US country music star Luke Combs at the same time.

“@Ticketek who is the whiz who put so many event sales on AT THE SAME TIME,” one fan wrote.
