Splunk has announced its third annual Splunk HBCU Academic Scholarship awarding 15 students each with $10,000 for educational expenses. Since the start of Splunk’s HBCU Scholarship program in 2020, the company has awarded 20 scholarships to students. This year, a slight change was made to the academic scholarship extending it to any student pursuing a technology-related degree.

The scholarship is eligible for HBCU students who identify with communities historically excluded from the technology industry, including Black / African American, Hispanic / Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander and American Indian.

If planning to apply, all students must be 18 years of age and enrolled as full-time students at an accredited HBCU pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree for the full 2023-2024 academic year.

Prospects should major in computer science, computer engineering, software development, data science, information systems, information technology, networking engineering, web development, UX/UI Design, cybersecurity, or other related degrees.

“Jumpstart your career with an innovative company that values your professional growth as much as you do. We put our rookies on the court — work with smart people committed to giving you rewarding projects, networking opportunities and an intern experience that will go beyond your time at Splunk. Join us in removing the barriers between data and action, so everyone thrives in the Data Age,” Splunk’s website reads.

Applicants should also be in high standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.

To apply, students must complete the 2023 application online and submit a resume including notable projects, leadership roles, any honors, awards, and/or certifications, and their extracurricular activities. A current (official or unofficial) transcript is added to the list of deliverables.

Lastly, students should be prepared to write a 250-500 word written essay in a PDF or Word Document. Applications are due March 1, 2023, and students will be notified on May 26, 2023.

Splunk values candidates who can exemplify leadership capabilities, overcome personal and professional challenges, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and have an outstanding academic record.
