Strathcona County RCMP said they received 911 calls on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 3:15 p.m. about a male pointing what was believed to be a gun at motorists on Main Boulevard and Sherwood Drive.
Officers rushed to the scene and located a teen matching the description provided by the complainant.
The youth was arrested without further incident and the alleged firearm was located.
Investigators determined the gun was not real and was an imitation firearm.
RCMP have charged a 15-year-old male youth, whose name cannot be released due to his age, with pointing a firearm, using an imitation firearm during an offence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The youth was released on an appearance notice and is set to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Nov. 22.
