My First 2 Weeks In The Medium Partner Program. | by Edward Frost | Nov, 2022

I finally made it!

After two years of on-and-off writing, I finally got an article to go viral (well, by my standards, anyway), and I sailed past the 100 follower requirement to qualify for the Medium Partner Program.

It’s been 2 weeks today, so I thought I’d go over some of the stats for the past week, and yes, I’ll include how much money I’ve made, but first- I would like to thank you all for following me and reading my rants- I really didn’t think anyone other than my mother would read them!

It was on the 6th of November that my article The S&P 500 Is Down 25%, Now What? got 323 views and sent me from 80-odd followers to 104, and of course, I immediately applied for the Partner Program.

It took a couple of days to process, but once it had, I did celebrate with a Gin and Tonic.

I didn’t and still don’t know what to expect, but I have been very surprised by two things;

Firstly, my most viewed story by far since getting accepted is a story that I wrote 5 months ago, and it wasn’t particularly popular back then.

This story about my passive income got a couple of hundred views back in June, but has now got over 1,700 views in the last week- which I really wasn’t expecting. And no, the irony isn’t lost on me- a story that I wrote about passive income is now a source of passive income!

The second thing that baffled me, is that I got 2 referred members (I didn’t even know that was a thing, to be honest) as a result of that story, which has made me $4.28 in November. Not bad considering that I should continue to get that- so long as they continue their Membership.

So, how much have I made?

Well, if you’re expecting large numbers, I’m sorry to disappoint- but as you can see, I only have around 3,000 views in the last 30 days, so I don’t think that I’ll be giving up my day job anytime soon, but for my first fortnight, I couldn’t be happier!

$34 means I’m getting well over $10/1,000 views, which seems like a lot to me, especially given that I wasn’t in the Partner Program for the whole month, and my earnings for today will be added on tomorrow. (I have no idea what the average is, perhaps someone can enlighten me in the comments).

Well, there you have it, building brick by brick, I’m now making enough money to buy half a pint of lager in Qatar- if they hadn’t banned it, of course.
