Why we love it: Started in 1994, Bloodline Design co-founders Malcolm and Andrea Norman have quietly built their brand from a homemade jewelry startup to a well-known wholesale business with retail partnerships ranging from Blue Ruby to Nordstrom. Along the way, their “vintage modern” designs made from reclaimed silver have found fans in celebrities such as Ryan Reynolds, Halle Berry, Vin Diesel and more.

In November 2019, the company launched its own online e-commerce platform in a bid to branch out with its own direct-to-consumer offering. Following a successful pop-up shop in the neighbourhood of Kitsilano in December 2021, the Vancouver-based jewelry brand has set up a permanent boutique, its first, at 2005 West 4th Ave.

“Our dream has always been to have a store where people could experience Bloodline as a whole brand,” Malcolm Norman explains of the new bricks-and-mortar shop. In addition to offering the brand’s full range of unisex jewelry designs, the space will also provide an exclusive launch pad for its latest collections.

The store front has an old school neon sign that reads Destination Lab because the store is where we will launch collections before going out to the world with them on our website and through retail partners,” Norman says. “It is where people discover the brand and our new designs, and we get to discover what makes Bloodline work for people. So, it is a destination of discovery.”

The shop features a 4.5 by 2-metre installation in addition to the jewelry designs, which Norman says pays “homage” to his roots in street and surf design.

The price: From $75.
